All beautiful stories start with “Once upon a time” and this story is not any different except that it is written as poetry.
Once upon a time I lived in England and caught a serious case of love. And ever since then I never got rid of it or had the intention to.
Friendship and love are the ingredients for the poems and prose I have written in the 30 years from then and in this little book I let you taste some of it.

I have a lot of caring friends
They e-mail me all the time to tell
That I should lose some weight
20 Lbs a week or even 30 if I’m lucky
And if I use their products this or that
I might get a date with their friend Holly
Or Kelly, or Debby, Libby, Emily, Kitty, Lucy or Melody
They must know me pretty well
When the Court Jester
Told them a hilarious joke at the expense of the King
He shouted out in rage
Behead the little fester
But the poor man cried
Please no your Majesty
Jokes about a rolling head are really not my thing

Yes I know it’s only January and it is way too early for Spring Cleaning but as some of you may have noticed I have cleaned up the Poems category at my website. I did it for a good reason which I will explain to you.
As you all know I have published a couple of books last year, a fact that makes me a very proud author. My Dutch book is sold out now and my book in English is nearing the same milestone soon.
But there’s going to be more of it. Today I received the ISBN for the American version of my book A taste of love. The publisher in America has sent me the proof for the book and the cover and I gladly gave my approval.
So in the coming weeks I will be informed about the publishing date and the final result. I will keep this a secret for a while until it’s finally there but the book cover will show a picture that is very dear to me and a lot of my friends.
Exciting news, a third ISBN in my name added to the collection. Well, soon anyway.
Some of my friends say I should be considering a career as a professional photographer, they’ve been saying it for years now. And when they say it they make me smile. The truth is I think it’s nice to go out in nature and take pictures of flowers, insects, mushrooms, birds or whatever attracts my attention and I thoroughly enjoy it but I also think that I will never be good enough when I compare my work to that of those who are already professionals.
And I am somewhat scared that if I choose to become a professional in this field I might not enjoy my pictures as I do now. They would be reduced to ‘bread on the table’.
I am excited! I am going to begin something new, something entirely different from what I have done before in the last decade. This project requires different skills so I am currently practicing my writing skills.
Not writing as in writing new poetry but the art of handwriting itself. As a child I used a Fountain Pen at school and in the years after but with the introduction of computers, internet and modern media I have neglected the art of handwriting. And now is the time to start again.
