I ‘hunt’ for them in our local park but only with my camera and lenses as I think they are beautiful creatures even though they eat a lot of fish in ponds apparently.
This particular one was about 9 to 10 inches big and very hard to ‘catch’. It hid itself under branches and I had to stick my walking cane in the water to move those branches. As I did it ‘attacked’ my walking stick and it showed no fear.
That behaviour and the fact they are just beautiful makes me want to go back there and take another look at them. And I will take my cameras with me again I promise.
