A lot has happened in my life this past year. In January I had a sad anniversary, 5 years of infusions. Unfortunately I will depend on those infusions for the rest of my life. And in April I had an accident with my moped with serious back and neck problems as a result.
But on to the happy events of this year! This Summer I got a moped car, a present to me thanks to the numerous donations of unknown Dutch people after a crowdfunding action by a pastor through his website. Also this year I published A taste of love, my first collection in English, dedicated to my friends in England.
This Summer Holiday I went to the French coast with my family and for the first time in my life I had a swim in the Atlantic Ocean, quite an experience for me personally. All great experiences that added up to a fantastic year! And in between, every three weeks on a Friday, those infusions and every time a loving family around me and dear friends that spared a prayer for me. It did me a world of good.
And of course I must mention those dozens of cups of coffee with friends, again possible thanks to that little red car I got. Much better than a Vespa when it’s raining. Already for a couple of years now I am a member of a very nice church with brothers and sisters of whom some of them became good friends. It is nice to be able to go out and meet them.
And now it’s Christmas again, time flies. It is my favourite time of the year. Actually I must say Autumn and Christmas, they are both my favourite and it’s hard to choose for me. Autumn and Christmas is for me cooking great Winter meals, family gathered together on the couch and watch a classic film, light a lot of candles, play a lot of Christmas records -vinyl on the turntable, goes without saying- that sort of things. The smell of Cinnamon in the kitchen, home made Apple Sauce, Apple Pies, chit chatting of the children that pop in for a meal. All these things make me happy.
But the best of the best is really Christmas itself, the days we remember the birth of Jesus and that He came to earth to free us from sin. I cannot imagine wit such a great feast for us that He actually faced such an ordeal later in His life for us. We must be thankful for this, and happy. But mostly thankful. Thank you God.
It was some year to remember. Over two thousand years ago.
